SHIKHA_spicesWell-known for the whole spices he blends and crushes into custom mixes for his richly flavoured Indian dishes, Hasan, the chef behind Shikha’s Kitchen, has recently begun offering take-home jars for anyone wishing to explore Indian cooking on their own.  Our favourite:  bright yellow turmeric.  Its earthy, slightly bitter, slightly hot peppery flavor is one of the best-known in Indian cooking, and its rich yellow pigment is often used as a food dye and colours many famous Indian dishes.
