One-of a-Kind Vintage Finds!
When choosing to buy local, you tap into an interesting market. It’s a one-on-one, personal experience that often leaves you more satisfied with your purchase then buying from a larger retailers would. You’re also given the choice to purchase something more unique, something one-of-a-kind, a product specific only to a certain business or community.
Jewels of Crown owner Carly Vieira has been creating a unique experience for market shoppers since a little over 4 years ago, when she introduced her up-cycled vintage collectables on the second floor. What started out as a love for fashion and one-of-a-kind pieces has led Carly to begin her own collection, sharing with others her love for unique finds. And that’s how Jewels of Crown was born.
Carly aims to create a unique experience for her shoppers. With the help of her mother, Teri Vieira, the two have hand-picked hundreds of interesting vintage finds. Most are articles of women’s clothing, chic and bold to this day in age. Special attention to detail is given, and pieces must be in good condition. A few articles are also altered, lightly repaired or hemmed. Accessories are also a large part of Carly’s collectables, all of which add to this unique shopping experience. Carly also features vintage housewares, some small furniture pieces and even vinyl records. In the past 2 years, Carly’s mother has become quite involved with Jewels of Crown and she is the main source for all of the dishes that are collected. “Everything is one of a kind. It just depends on what people are looking for,” explains Carly.
And one of a kind is right. The ‘hunt’ is likely what brought Carly to where her business is today. There is never an end to what she will find, when she will find it, and where it will be. Carly keeps her eyes open wherever she happens to be at the time. She also accepts house-calls to buy from individuals, or accepts things they bring in to the market itself so she can re-sell them. It’s all part of the fun, and makes the experience that much more satisfying, knowing she’s just found a one-of-a-kind item. That satisfaction then carries on to her shoppers, often equally as pleased in what they find in her store.
At the moment, Jewels of Crown’s prime location is in the market, located on the second floor. You can view her goods on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6:30pm and again on Saturdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm. However, Carly has big dreams of potentially expanding her collection in the future through a few pop-up shops.
