Superfood Desserts: Too Good Not to be True

There are usually so many people near Leanne and Fritz’ shared space that we had to get a shot before the Market opened. Haven’t read the menu yet? Get on up there and you’ll see what all the fuss is about.

Leanne Wierzbicki of Breathe, Live, Believe: Whole Foods Vegan has started something amazing on the second floor. Since she joined us near the beginning of the year we’ve seen her booth evolve from a simple table and a tiny fridge to a lovely and welcoming niche she now shares with neighbour Fritz of Early Snows Pottery, and where many Market patrons queue up gladly to avail themselves of the delicious vegan dishes – both savoury and sweet – on offer.

Leanne’s asked us to let customers know that pre-orders are available. If you’re planning on serving some of her most popular items like her cheesecakes, tortes and hummus over the next several weeks, please avoid disappointment and let her know ahead of time; she is now taking pre-orders for these items.

The main difference, Leanne says, between her tortes and cheesecakes is that cheesecakes are made with lemon juice and tortes are not, but tortes contain raw cacao butter and cheesecakes don’t. Both will keep for a minimum of 6 months in your freezer and 10 days in the fridge, so planning well in advance of your holiday entertaining is not a problem!

BLB’s Chocolate Torte: Dessert that’s good for you.

Leanne offers her 8″ (serves 8 or more) and 11″ (serves 16 or more, depending on how generously you cut the slices) cakes in the following varieties:

  • Chocolate Cheesecake
  • Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake
  • Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake
  • Peanut Butter Swirl Cheesecake
  • Chocolate Torte
